Applications for 2025 are now closed. The application portal will REOPEN on 31st January 2026 for Productivity, Skills, Visitor Economy and Apprenticeship Grants

The Better Business Support Package is part of a £20m initiative from the Government of Jersey to help employers manage the transition to a living wage. As part of this support, £5.3m has been allocated to the Better Business Grant in both 2025 and 2026 to help Jersey businesses:

• Improve productivity
• Invest in staff training
• Grow the visitor economy
• Support apprenticeships

What is the Better Business Grant?

The Better Business Grant offers up to 50% matched funding for initiatives that build skills, improve efficiency and support the visitor economy.

With £5.3m available, this is a major opportunity for Jersey businesses to upgrade systems, train staff and plan for long-term growth.

What grants can I apply for and what projects are eligible?

What it’s for: Investing in equipment, tools, or technology that helps your business operate more efficiently.

Eligible projects include investments that lead to:

Improved process efficiency
Reduced operating costs
Increased sales

Visitor Economy Development GrantRead Less Read More

What it’s for: Businesses that earn a significant part of their income from visitors and want to enhance their offer or services.

Eligible projects:

Same as Productivity Grants
Funding is specifically ring‑fenced for the visitor economy sector
Note: Can be used alongside other funding.

Skills GrantRead Less Read More

What it’s for: Training that builds leadership, digital capability, or operational skills.

Eligible training focuses on improving:

Efficiency
Cost reduction
Sales performance
Not covered: Consultancy services

Apprenticeship GrantsRead Less Read More

What it’s for: Employers taking on apprentices enrolled in a government‑supported apprenticeship programme.

How much are the grants for?

Productivity, Skills and Visitor Economy Development Grants

Two levels of funding are available:

Major Grants

£5,000 to £75,000
For businesses trading for more than 18 months

Minor Grants

£1,000 to £5,000
For businesses trading for more than 6 months

Matched funding applies to all grants.

Example:
If your project costs £10,000.You contribute £5,000, and the grant covers £5,000.

How much is the Apprentice grant?

Eligible businesses can apply for a £2,000 grant per apprentice.

To qualify, apprentices must be paid employees and must attend regular training from the list of government-supported apprenticeship programmes.
