The Government of Jersey launched a pilot of a new social enterprise framework called the ‘SEE Enterprise Pathway’ at the first ever joint BIC Working Group visit and meetings, for both Creative Industries and Social Inclusion, on Thursday 26th September.
After a period of research and consultation with members of the social enterprise community, the charitable sector, and across government departments, the SEE Enterprise Framework is now moving into a pilot phase and inviting businesses, new and established, to become part of a pilot group.
The SEE (Social, Environmental and Economic) Enterprise Pathway has been developed in response to the Government of Jersey’s Future Economy Plan and the findings and recommendations of the Barriers to Business Report.
The primary purpose of the SEE Enterprise Pathway is to provide a comprehensive framework of support to make it easier to startup, develop and scale businesses that will have a positive impact on the Jersey community and environment. We are hoping that this pathway will enable a stronger partnership between government and the business community to support our efforts towards positive social and environmental impact.
The project will be delivered through a partnership between two Government departments -Customer and Local Services and Economy, and Jersey Business.
Paul Murphy, CEO of Jersey Business says
"Social Economic Environmental Enterprise Pathway or SEE is designed with three ways 1) Support creative and entrepreneurs and social beneficial businesses 2) Shifting business culture towards local community and economic benefit, ethical awareness, and positive impact and finally 3) Coordinate and align departments in government so that all parties work together to support the entrepreneurial environment and the Future Economy Plan.
At Jersey Business, we see considerable benefit in supporting the SEE pilot project as this also helps to address the barriers to business report in several ways and enables greater levels of support for shifting businesses towards a thriving ecosystem and helps businesses promote and benefit from a recognition of this model of business for the future in Jersey."
