The retail sector in Jersey faces both challenges and opportunities as it adapts to shifting consumer behaviours, technological change, and economic pressures. This forthcoming breakfast event will explore where the sector currently stands, and where it is heading.
We are delighted to welcome Professor Leigh Sparks as our keynote speaker. Professor Sparks holds a PhD on retail employment from the University of Wales and has been Professor of Retail Studies at the University of Stirling since 1992. An internationally recognised expert, he has held visiting professorships at Florida State University and the University of Tennessee, and is renowned for his extensive research conducted for public and private clients, research councils, and governments. He is the author and editor of several books, has published over 125 refereed journal articles, and contributes widely to practitioner and trade publications as well as his respected Scottish retailing blog.
Professor Sparks will address the key questions shaping the future of Jersey’s retail sector:
- What are the real possibilities and opportunities for retail in Jersey?
- What does “good” look like in practice?
- How should the sector prepare for the future?
Following his keynote, a panel discussion and audience Q&A will provide further insights, perspectives, and practical considerations for retailers, policymakers, and stakeholders alike.
The day begins with a delicious breakfast, courtesy of the Grand Hotel and Spa, and valuable networking, followed by a deep dive into the future of retail.
