A practical and insightful discussion on why trusted data matters, and how Statistics Jersey helps businesses and Government make better decisions.
At this Jersey Chamber Lunch, Chamber will be joined by Dr Kathryn Chamberlain OBE, Chair of the Jersey Statistics Council, alongside Ian Cope, Chief Statistician at Statistics Jersey. Together they will set out the role of Jersey's official statistics system, how independence and trust are safeguarded, and how high-quality data underpins informed decision making across the Island. From population and workforce trends to economic performance and living standards, Statistics Jersey provides the evidence base that supports public debate and long-term planning.
For the business community, this insight is critical. Reliable, timely data helps businesses assess risk, plan investment, understand customers and workforce dynamics, and engage more effectively with Government policy development. Equally, Government relies on robust statistics to shape policy that is proportionate, targeted and evidence led. This session will explore how businesses can better use official statistics, why engagement with data matters, and how shared understanding between business and Government leads to better outcomes for Jersey as a whole.
