Rhiannon Small, Head of Service, Jersey Customs and Immigration Services
At the Chamber Lunch Rhiannon Small will detail the Jersey Customs and Immigration Service’s (JCIS) critical role in safeguarding the island’s economic and physical borders.
JCIS administers online services for GST work permits settled status immigration permissions and passports enabling seamless cross border operations for businesses and travellers.
The Service enforces import duties including GST excise customs tariff and vehicle emission duties and ensures accurate clearance of goods arriving in Jersey.
JCIS also manages work permit regulations ensuring ethical recruitment practices fair wages employee welfare and alignment with broader residency policies all within the Common Travel Area framework.
Furthermore as Head of Service and Agent of the Impôts Rhiannon leads intelligence driven operations against smuggling and illegal immigration safeguarding both revenue streams of around £88 million annually and public safety.
Her insights will highlight how JCIS balances robust border controls with facilitating legitimate commerce and maintaining Jersey’s connectivity with global markets.
