Visit Jersey has partnered with Digital Jersey to create and deliver a course bespoke to local tourism businesses. You will be shown how to make a simple website with little cost and no code, in a drag-and-drop environment.

Rory Steel will show you how to use the Google suite to manage your business successfully.

James Matthewson will guide you through social media and online marketing to maximise your opportunities, keeping your audience informed and engaged.

Session 1 – Get visible on Google

We’ll show you how to set up and make the most of a free Business Profile on Google Search and Maps to get new customers, including how to personalise your profile with photos, offers, posts, and more.

In addition, we’ll introduce you to Google Workspace which is a cheap, reliable, and secure tool to run your business. This session will show you the basics of how to use each of the tools, and how they can work together to make your business stand out. From a business profile listing, eMails, documents, spreadsheets, presentations, maps and even websites, you will be able to use professional tools quickly and with very little technical knowledge. Without any need to install applications or require anything more than a web browser, your business can benefit from some simple tools to save you time.

Session 2 – No-Code Websites & Online Payments

It is simpler than you think to have a good-looking website with online booking and payment options and no code! This session explores how Google Sites can deliver a bespoke website with simple drag-and-drop options. This will be a practical session where you will learn how to make a site and learn how to edit it from something as simple as your smartphone. Many customers now expect contactless or online payment options. Learn how to set your site up to do just this with tools like Eventbrite and Paypal.

Session 3 – Social Media Promotion

Branding is key in the modern world. Learn how to best place your business online and the simple tips and tricks with Facebook Pages, Twitter v Insta v TikTok, Sponsored posts, Eventbrite/Events and much more. Use simple marketing techniques to improve awareness of your services and drive more customers to your business. Once engaged, learn tips to interact with potential customers in ways that reduce your churn rate and secure more business.

Session 4 – SEO & Analytics

You’re online but not the top result in Google. Learn how this works and the tips and tricks to rise to the top of customer searches. Is it worth paying for ads and are all paid ads equal? Use Google Business profile to help improve your online profile and appear on Google Maps which is increasingly being used to search for services. Reviews are important; learn how the likes of Trip Advisor v Google Reviews differ. Learn basic Analytics to understand your website audience and statistics and use them to reach the right people.

Session 5 – Security, Compliance & Drop-in day for help

Are your customer records secure and safe? Data protection is a legal must, and complying with it isn’t as hard as you may think. Make sure you are registered with the JOIC and learn how to if not.

Use this day to go over some of the previous sessions and ask questions that have arisen from them. A drop-in session to tidy up your new online presence.
