Enterprise Week 2018, a week-long series of focused business events in Jersey, will be reflecting on the future for Jersey’s economy in a local and international context, identifying how the business community can shape itself for the opportunities and challenges that current local and global events are creating.

With a programme of events between 17th and 21st September, the Keynote Event ‘The Future of Enterprise in Jersey’ on Tuesday 18th September will be the opportunity for Jersey’s business leaders and owners to discuss how to navigate the changes being driven by global politics, people and technology and the repercussions for Jersey.

Jersey Business, organiser of Enterprise Week, is delighted to announce that Chief Minister Senator John Le Fondre will open the event with his thoughts on the future opportunities and challenges for the Island’s business community followed by international speaker Simon Jack, BBC’s Business Editor who will explain the international political landscape affecting Jersey.

Charlie Parker, Chief Executive of the States of Jersey, Andrew McLaughlin, Chief Executive Officer at RBS International and Sir Peter Wall, ex Chief of the British Army and CEO of Amicus will also share their thoughts on how Jersey’s business community needs to respond to economic and social drivers shaping Jersey now and in the future.

Jersey Business’s Chief Executive Graeme Smith said, “They might not realise it but businesses in Jersey in 2018 are having to respond to changing political, technological and social expectations at a rate that has never happened before. We are therefore very pleased to be able to arrange such a high quality opening event for Enterprise Week. The Keynote Event ‘The Future of Enterprise in Jersey’ is a not-to-be-missed forum for every business leader on the island who wishes to have a successful organisation in Jersey in the future.’

After spending time as a banker in London, New York and Bermuda, Simon Jack has reported on business and economics for the Today programme, BBC News Channel and BBC’s Breakfast News and now leads the broadcaster’s coverage of events in the business world from money markets to the tech sector. Having interviewed some of the biggest names in UK and international commerce he is well placed to discuss the implications of the current shifts in global politics and how these are shaping the economic environment across the world.  Simon’s involvement in Enterprise Week is kindly sponsored by BDO Jersey.

Chief Minister Senator John Le Fondre said: ‘Once again Jersey Business has identified some of the most the challenging questions facing business and brought together an exceptional panel of speakers to address these issues during Enterprise Week. The Keynote Event is a unique opportunity for the business community across the island to come together to consider how to respond to external factors that are shaping our future. I am delighted to be addressing this very important seminar and discussing the future of enterprise in Jersey’.

Enterprise Week starts on 17th September and runs until Friday 21st September. The full programme can be found on www.jerseybusiness.je/events.
